Colorado Mesa Residence Life Shirts
Role:
Shirt Design
Year:
2025
Project Overview
Colorado Mesa University Residence Life approached me to design move-in t-shirts for their annual fall housing move-ins. The primary goal was clear and functional: identify move-in staff at a glance so new students and families could easily find help during a high-traffic, high-stress day. The shirts needed to feel official, on-brand, and highly visible while being worn campus-wide by Residence Life staff and student athletes assisting with move-ins.
The designs were produced under CMU’s existing brand guidelines and required the phrase “Colorado Mesa MAV Movers”, ensuring consistency with the university’s identity while still standing out in busy move-in environments.
Key Features
Clear, bold typography for fast staff identification
“Colorado Mesa MAV Movers” integrated as a focal element
Two-color screen-print–ready designs
Front and back compositions for maximum visibility
One typography-focused design and one image-driven design
Full alignment with CMU brand colors and guidelines
Outcome & Impact
Each design was printed 100+ times and worn campus-wide during move-ins by Residence Life staff and student athletes. Seeing the shirts in real use—helping guide new students and families—was a rewarding moment and reinforced the importance of functional design in real-world environments.
This project strongly showcases my typographic skills, ability to design within brand and production constraints, and experience iterating based on feedback to arrive at effective final solutions.
